🧠 STORY: “Arun’s Exam Day” (English)

Arun was a nursing student preparing for his final examination.

🔹 Repression

Arun had failed an important exam once before, but he could not remember that painful failure clearly anymore. His mind had pushed that memory away.

🔹 Denial

On the exam day, even though Arun was very anxious and unprepared, he kept saying,
“I am perfectly fine. Nothing is wrong.”

🔹 Rationalization

After writing the exam poorly, Arun told his friends,
“The questions were unfair. That’s why I may fail.”

🔹 Projection

Deep inside, Arun knew he had not studied well, but he blamed the teacher, saying,
“She doesn’t teach properly.”

🔹 Displacement

Angry about the exam, Arun could not shout at the teacher. Instead, he scolded his younger brother at home.

🔹 Reaction Formation

Arun felt jealous of his friend who wrote the exam well, but he praised him excessively and said,
“You are brilliant!”

🔹 Regression

Feeling helpless, Arun started behaving like a child, sitting quietly and refusing to talk to anyone.

🔹 Sublimation

Later, Arun decided to control his stress in a healthy way.
He joined regular exercise and painting, channeling his anxiety into productive activities.

👉 Thus, Arun’s mind used different defense mechanisms to protect him from stress and emotional pain.

🧠 അരുണിന്റെ പരീക്ഷദിവസം (Malayalam Story)

അരുണ്‍ ഒരു നഴ്‌സിംഗ് വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയായിരുന്നു. ഫൈനൽ പരീക്ഷയ്ക്ക് തയ്യാറെടുക്കുന്ന സമയമാണ്.

🔹 Repression

മുന്‍പ് ഒരു പ്രധാന പരീക്ഷയില്‍ പരാജയപ്പെട്ട അനുഭവം അരുണിന് ഇപ്പോൾ വ്യക്തമായി ഓര്‍മയില്ല. ആ വേദനകരമായ ഓര്‍മ്മ മനസ്സ് അടിച്ചമര്‍ത്തി.

🔹 Denial

പരീക്ഷദിവസം തയ്യാറെടുപ്പില്ലെങ്കിലും,
“എനിക്ക് ഒന്നും പ്രശ്നമില്ല” എന്ന് അരുണ്‍ തന്നെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിച്ചു.

🔹 Rationalization

പരീക്ഷ നന്നായി എഴുതാനാകാതെ വന്നപ്പോൾ,
“ചോദ്യങ്ങൾ വളരെ അന്യായമായിരുന്നു” എന്ന് അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

🔹 Projection

സ്വന്തം തയ്യാറെടുപ്പില്ലായ്മ അംഗീകരിക്കാതെ,
“അധ്യാപിക ശരിയായി പഠിപ്പിച്ചില്ല” എന്ന് അരുണ്‍ കുറ്റപ്പെടുത്തി.

അധ്യാപികയോട് ദേഷ്യം കാണിക്കാനാകാതെ,
വീട്ടിലെത്തിയ ശേഷം അവൻ തന്റെ ചെറുഭ്രാതാവിനെ ശാസിച്ചു.

🔹 Reaction Formation

പരീക്ഷ നന്നായി എഴുതിയ സുഹൃത്തിനോട് അസൂയ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും,
അവനെ വളരെയധികം പ്രശംസിച്ചു.

🔹 Regression

വളരെ വിഷമം തോന്നിയപ്പോൾ,
അരുണ്‍ കുട്ടിയെ പോലെ മിണ്ടാതെയും ഒറ്റയ്ക്ക് ഇരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

🔹 Sublimation

പിന്നീട് അരുണ്‍ തന്റെ സമ്മർദ്ദം നല്ല വഴിയിൽ മാറ്റാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചു.
അവൻ വ്യായാമവും ചിത്രരചനയും ആരംഭിച്ചു.
